California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010
The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 is designed to increase the amount of information made available by manufacturers regarding their efforts to address the issue of slavery and human trafficking, thereby allowing consumers to make better, more informed choices regarding the products they buy and the companies they choose to support. Slavery and human trafficking can take many forms, including bonded or forced involuntary labor and child labor. Actus Nutrition prohibits any form of slavery and/or human trafficking throughout the supply chain. Specifically, we have internally reviewed our supply chain practices and implemented the following action steps to address the issue of slavery and human trafficking:
1. Verification
We want to work with suppliers with impeccable reputations who share our high business standards. Our “Supplier Code of Practice” (“Code”) defines certain minimum standards that we ask our suppliers, licensees and their subsidiaries and the employees of each to adhere to. Our suppliers understand that all existing and future agreements and business relations with Actus Nutrition are subject to the Code’s provisions, including:
- Respect for human rights, and the prohibition of the use of forced or compulsory labor
- A ban on child labor, including any work which is physically, socially, morally or mentally dangerous or harmful for children; and
- Compliance with the laws of the country or countries in which the supplier does business.
2. Auditing
We review our supplier relationships annually through the use of audits designed to verify compliance with our Code and to demand necessary corrective measures when necessary. Some of these audits may not be conducted by independent third parties or unannounced. We also reserve the right to terminate any arrangement with a supplier that we learn does not comply with the Code.
3. Certification
Whenever possible, we prefer to deal with suppliers who share our commitment to ending slavery and human trafficking as evidenced by their similar focus on labor standards, health and safety, as well as business integrity.
4. Training
We include training on slavery and human trafficking, such as forced labor or child labor, for employees directly responsible for our supply chain management.
We believe that the actions described above will help prevent the occurrence of human trafficking and slavery within our supply chain.
