Actus Acquires Erie Foods International
October 26, 2026
Actus Nutrition (“Actus”), North America’s largest milk and whey protein manufacturer, today announced it has acquired Erie Foods International (“Erie Foods”), a manufacturer of protein ingredients and specialty dairy products based in Erie, Illinois. The agreement includes all of Erie Foods’ North American operations. Erie Europe was not part of the transaction and will operate independently.
Erie Foods began in 1938 as a casein manufacturer and has grown over nearly nine decades into a supplier of dairy protein ingredients and custom processing services for the food, nutraceutical, and supplement industries. Its U.S.-manufactured portfolio includes caseins, caseinates, milk protein crisps, milk protein concentrates, milk protein isolates, and granulated calcium carbonate. This is supported by value-added processing expertise in twin-screw extrusion, agglomeration and granulation, drying, precision blending, particle coating, and product formulation and development. Its research and manufacturing facility in Rochelle, Illinois, is FDA-registered and SQF-certified, and is supported by an on-site distribution center with access to major rail and highway networks.
“Erie Foods adds highly complementary capabilities that strengthen our ability to serve customers across a broader range of protein ingredients and nutrition applications,” said David Lenzmeier, Chief Executive Officer of Actus Nutrition. “Their expertise, manufacturing footprint, and longstanding customer relationships make Erie Foods an excellent fit for Actus as we continue to invest in the scale, flexibility, and innovation our customers need.”
For Actus customers, the addition means a broader product range and expanded production capabilities. Together, the companies will be better positioned to serve the food and beverage, active nutrition, and supplement markets. Jim Klein, President of Erie Foods and a 40-year company veteran, will join Actus and continue to lead Erie facility operations.
“Our people, our facilities, and our customer relationships aren’t changing,” said Klein. “We’re keeping what has made us successful, and now we have a bigger team behind us. I’m excited to be part of it.”
The acquisition was completed on October 26, 2026. PKF Investment Banking acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Erie Foods in this transaction.
